High fashion illustrator



Rene Gruau (4 February 1909-31 March 2004) was a famous fashion illustrator. His images of fashion design have a lasting impact on the fashion industry. Rene Gruau was born in Italy in 1909 to an aristocratic family, surname Gruau mother. In 1924, already in Paris, he began his career as an illustrator in the fashion industry. His early drawings were published in Italy, Germany and England. Gruau sketch was first published in 1929. L'Officiel Magazine one of the first printed sketches talented young man, after which it began regular figures of Italian, French and German publishing fashion magazines. From 1935-1939 he worked with FEMINA, Marie-Claire, L'Officiel, L'ALBUM DU FIGARO and other magazines. In 1947, his friend Christian Dior commissioned him to paint an advertisement for the brand Miss Dior. In 1948, the illustrator went to the United States to work for Harper's Bazaar and Vogue. In 1949, he devoted his time to advertising. From 1950 he worked for the biggest names in Haute Couture: Balmain, Balenciaga, Givenchy, Rochas. At the same time continue to produce sketches for Elle, Vogue, Madame Figaro and L'Officiel de la Couture. Rene Gruau died in Italy at the age of 95 years. Gruau became one of the most famous and beloved artists in the world of high fashion - Gruau work is recognized internationally, his works are in the most prestigious museums of Paris to Italy, including the Louvre.
